Life Update
Wednesday, May 21, 2008

There's so much going on right now in my life that I am starting to feel really stressed out.

Work has been crazy with all the web attacks happening. My regular web work is piling up and my deadlines are coming at me with a vengeance. It seems like no one cares about the time I have to devote to making our site secure. They just want their projects done. I'm doing my best but I feel like I'm wearing out. I'm dreading the holiday weekend because I have a feeling our site will be hit and I won't be able to contact our hosting company during that time.

My personal life is also going insane. I plan to move in a few months but I haven't had the time to do the research I need to do to find a nice place. I'm saving my money for the move but the price of gasoline is really hurting me. I think we're getting close to breaking the $4 per gallon price in this area in the next few days. I'm considering getting an apartment that is closest to work. They're not pretty but it may save me some gas money. Don't ask me about my social life. It's still dead. I still haven't found my rice-eating, video game playing, somewhat techie, American girl. So the quest continues.

My car is nearing it's 25k check up. I'm guessing I'm going to have to do that sometime next month. The whole thing will probably cost me the rest of my limbs that the gas company haven't taken. At the moment, I am enjoying the iPod adapter in my car. It's made my car into a stereo on wheels.

Although I hate Macs, I do appreciate the original simple design of the iPod. I have a 20GB fourth generation iPod which meets my needs. The new ones have too many bells and whistles. I just wanted a music player which is why I haven't upgraded. The one I have works perfectly with my VW's sound system. Sometimes, I don't even want to get out of my car after I drive.

I'm struggling to learn ASP.net. It's nothing like classic ASP. The learning curve is set at a higher level. I talked to my boss about getting some training and he seemed receptive to the idea.

I think I'll end this on that positive note. I'm getting sleepy. Since no one really reads these posts, I can afford to leave out some stuff.

Until next time. ByteMonkey signing off . . .
