iPod goes 80's Retro Tech
Saturday, June 28, 2008
Remember in the 80's when rival gangs would find each other "fighting" in the streets or subways, but the fighting wasn't actually violent fighting. It was actually break dancing? For those who do, the company Lasonic has something for you. It's the i931 High Perforance Portable Music System which not really that portable if you look at it. What you're seeing is a full sized 80's-style boom box that has a docking bay (resembling a cassete tape bay) where you can plug in your iPod classic. It also has the obligatory FM/AM radio and supports USB flash drives, SD/MMC cards to playback MP3 files. Labels: ipod, music, retro tech
Byte-Monkey.com Unofficial Theme Song
Monday, June 09, 2008
With my recent iPod infatuation, I've been listening to a lot of different types of music. Some of these tunes have been non-mainstream yet pretty awesome. Very recently, I've been turned on to the music of Jonathan Coulton ( http://www.jonathancoulton.com/). All I can say is that his music is hillarious, imaginative, and worth the money if you decide to buy his work. One of his songs titled, "Code Monkey," was pointed out by a good friend of mine as the perfect theme song to by personal blog at byte-monkey.com. Since she bought the song for me, I've decided to adopt the song as the official unofficial theme to the site. Mobile post sent by ByteMonkey using Utterz. Monkey Gets Bluetooth
Friday, June 06, 2008
While I was roaming today about in Target, I spotted Skullcandy's iPod Bluetooth adapter called the " The Approach" and decided to pick it up. This thing has been out since January, but only now that I have a new iPod that I've actually paid any attention to it. The Approach is a very simple device. Plug it in and it starts looking for something to pair with. There's really nothing to press on the adapter. Most of the work will be turning on the discovery mode on your headset Right now, I'm using the Approach with my Plantronics Pulsar 590E Bluetooth headset and they both seem to be working great. I originally bought this headset a couple of years back to listen to music on my Nokia 6265i cellphone but later found out that the phone didn't support stereo sound on Bluetooth. I never really used it much since I wasn't happy with the sound quality. Now that I'm using it with the iPod to listen to music instead of my phone, the sound quality is awesome. To top it all, the Pulsar 590 supports multiple device connections. This means I can have it paired to my iPod and to my phone at the same time. Labels: ipod, mp3 players, music, portable devices
"The iPod has Landed" or "Another Sleepless Night"
Thursday, May 29, 2008
I was just checking my Amazon.com account to see how far away my iPod has to travel to get to me, and I was surprised to find out that it has already arrived to my home. I wasn't expecting it to arrive so soon. In fact, I just received the shipping confirmation yesterday. (I wonder if it got stalled in the email server). I thought I had a few more days of waiting left to do, but now I'm not complaining. With the iPod waiting for me at home, I'm probably going to be staying up all night long trying to get it synchronized with my current music library. I am hoping that this unit already has all the firmware updates on it so that I don't waste any time doing boring stuff like updating the firware. I'll probably be working on getting my movies on the device. I already have the software that I need. The only thing missing was the iPod which now here. If you're thinking about driving by my house to steal my iPod package, please think again. I already called my neighbor and told them to pick up and hold it for me. By the way, they are NRA members and they would love to have a reason to play with their new "thirty-aught-six." Labels: ipod, mp3 players, music, portable devices
iPod Madness
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Sometime during the weekend I decided that I needed a new iPod. So, I grabbed all the loose change in my car and headed for the local CoinStar machine where I managed to turn my change into an Amazon.com gift certificate for $58.17 to help finance this purchase. Plus, I did some computer work recently that is going help make this expense a little more palpable. My reason for wanting a new iPod is related to my current iPod adapter in my car. Since I've had that adapter, I usually leave my old iPod in my car. I rarely remember to disconnect it and take it inside so I can listen my tunes. After a while, I started missing having my iPod around. Sure I could listen to music on my computer or on my mp3-enabled phone, but it just wasn't the same. Now, I'm waiting for my new iPod. I chose the modest black iPod Classic with the 80gb capacity. I figured this would hold my 20GB music library and leave some room for video clips which my old iPod did not support. So now, I'm dying of anticipation. I just can't wait for the bloody thing to arrive. Labels: ipod, mp3 players, music, portable devices
Sunday Fun
Sunday, May 18, 2008
Well, it's another Sunday and we all know what that partly means: Laundry Day. It's a good thing too. The scent of cigarette smoke is lingering on the clothes I wore last night. So, I'll be doing this for a good part of the day. I woke up this morning wanting tacos and I've decided that I'll be "running for the border" sometime today. Maybe after I'm done with laundry, I'll go to TacoBell and drive around town for a bit. This will give me an another excuse to listen to my music in my Ipod-powere car. I just have to remember not to be driving around for too long since the price of gasoline has making my wallet cry for a while now. I don't have any tech calls this weekend so I'm relatively free to do what I want. So far, it's been a good weekend for me. I really believe that in order to keep yourself sane that you sometimes have to take some time to let go of all your problems and have a good time.
