Treating myself to Crabs!
Sunday, April 05, 2009

After briefly loitering around at UWF's Festival on the Green, the gang and I decided to grab some grub at Pensacola Beach. We started off with a plan to get some hot wings at Hooters, but somehow ended up going to Crabs Seafood Restaurant. To be honest, I can't really remember what made us change our minds but we ended up there somehow.

At the restaurant, I realized that of all the times I have been there I had never ordered crabs from Crabs. For years, I had been limiting myself to the appetizers or the fried seafood baskets. Well, I decided that I would fix this major oversight and ordered some crabs.

Now, one of my main character flaws is that I can get somewhat indecisive on things that are very similar. Often, I try to do a lot research when I have to deliberate on things. This time, I didn't have the luxury of knowing what kind of crab was good, so I opted for the Combo Crab Platter which had a little of Alaskan Snow Crab Clusters, King Crab Legs, Dungeness Crab from San Francisco. There was some coleslaw, boiled potatoes, and corn on the cob also thrown in there for good measure.

To say the least, it was very good meal. Although it was pricey at about $30, I felt it was worth every dime. I don't make a habit of spending that much when eating out, but I'm a firm believer in treating yourself every once in a while.

Remember that you only live once. Don't die with any regrets of not having tasted something. If it looks good. Why not treat yourself and give it a try!

Twilight

Before leaving the beach today, I decided to take some snapshots of the sun setting. I tried to capture the twilight phase and this is what I got.

FYI: Twilight is defined as the soft, diffused light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon, either from daybreak to sunrise or, more commonly, from sunset to nightfall. It is not teen angst with vampires.

Winding Down the Party
Saturday, August 09, 2008

As my vacation draws to an end, I decided to spend my last day at the beach with a few friends. Jen, Rodney, Mike, and I spent the afternoon baking in the sun and floating in the Gulf.

We ate lunch at Flounders and had dinner at Papa's Pizza on the Boardwalk. We ate and talked about the old times and the crazy experiences we had when we worked at the University.

The highlight of the day was the time we spent floating. We were in there for a couple of hours and I must say that my legs are very tired now.

I'm also dealing with a little sunburn which is something that I'm not really used to being that I am a Pacific Islander. I guess my skin isn't as young as it used to be, or maybe perhaps it's just way too frigging hot out there. So during my vacation, I had to quickly learn the proper use of sun screen.

When the sun set, we walked around the boardwalk at Casino Beach. We also found some stargazers out on the beach who showed us Jupiter and the Moon on their telescopes.

Now, as I blog this, I'm doing some late night laundry with my beach clothes. I want try to minimize any cleaning up that I might have to do tomorrow. Tomorrow, I think I'm going to sleep in and just chill out at home. Maybe I'll watch some dvds or play with my Eee PC some more.
All in all, I really had a blast during my birthday vacation. I think everyone who turns thirty needs to spend a week at the beach and get away from everything for a short while. so that you can celebrate the last 30 and then get ready for the next 30 ahead of you.

Another Day by the Gulf
Wednesday, August 06, 2008

This is day five of my mini-vacation. I have decided to spend most of my remaining days on Pensacola Beach. I spent part of the afternoon here and I think I'll be returning tomorrow morning.

BTW, this post is being made on my EEE PC which arrived late Tuesday night. I am currently at the Gulf Breeze Whataburger grabbing some food and leeching off their WiFi to check my email and track some packages that I sent out.
