Happy Thanksgiving
Thursday, November 27, 2008

I hope that everyone is as stuffed as I am this Thanksgiving day. If not, I recommend crashing someone's dinner and scoring some turkey.

This year, my family did the whole traditional/classic Thanksgiving dinner. We had roast turkey, cornbread stuffing, yams, beets, cranberry sauce, green beans, mash potatoes and gravy. I wish I had the foresight to take a picture of the whole thing. It was truly a beautiful sight.

I'm at Books-A-Million right now trying to keep from dying of boredom. I'm using the free wi-fi that you get if you join their Millionaire's Club to surf the web for a bit and post this blog. Also, I really wanted to check on online order for a Sony Mylo COM-2 that placed yesterday at the Sony web site. It didn't look like it shipped out yesterday, so I'm hoping it goes out tomorrow or Monday.

Well, I think that's all I have for everyone. I'll post again soon.

How do I Pwn Thee?
Saturday, July 19, 2008

Computers connecting to weakly secured Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth-enable phones with unchanged passkeys, and even the microchip inside your passport or ID badge are all putting your personal data at risk.

At yesterday’s Last HOPE hacker conference, hacker “RenderMan” gave a presentation titled “How do I Pwn Thee? Let me Count the Says” which discussed how vulnerable we all truly are.

I recommend reading cnet.com’s report about the presentation. (Also, I see no reason to rewrite and repost something that is already posted. That's what whe have links for!) Maybe you’ll learn something about protecting your data. If it doesn’t make sense to you, then you should track down your neighborhood computer geek and have them explain it to you

Blogging in the Park
Saturday, May 10, 2008

I managed to snag a WiFi signal at the Bayview Park, so I'm taking the opportunity to post something (anything!) while I'm here.

I'm not really sure what is happening here at the park, but it looks like there's some kind of gathering. I'm guessing it's some church group having a weekend picnic. Most likely they are having some kind of Mother's day picnic.

As for me, I'm out and about running errands and fixing computers again. I'm begining to think that all the owners of the computers that I've had to clean this week may know each other. Most of them had the same kind of infection. They probably spread the damn thing through email.

All I can say to people is to make sure that you update your antivirus program daily at the minimum and keep your firewall running. If you turn them off for any reason, then try to remember to turn them back on. It only takes one infection to ruin your computer and your day.

Feeding the Addiction
Monday, May 05, 2008

I just found out that if you subscribe to the Ultra Level (or higher) of the AT&T's Fast Access DSL, you can get free WiFi Basic service at different places around town.

Now I can use my laptop and connect to the WiFi at Starbucks and Barnes & Noble for free making my Internet addiction even more incorrigible.

You'll probably see this monkey at the Barnes & Noble at lot more because of this.

Just try not to ask me stupid computer questions while I'm updating my Facebook or Twitter page.
